The Process
After contacting Allison, she will work with you to schedule an initial evaluation. During the evaluation, she will gain a clear picture of your child’s current fine motor function, visual-motor patterns, self-help skills, and sensory processing patterns. Based on this evaluation, she will set goals with the family. Next, a recommendation will be made for frequency and length of therapy treatment, and a home activity plan and/or a sensory diet will be developed. If your child has already been evaluated elsewhere there is no need for an additional evaluation. After sending the evaluation to Allison, she will schedule an initial consultation visit to get to know the child/family and discuss treatment goals.
Therapy session length will vary based on the age, physical endurance, and attention span of the child. Most sessions range from 30 minutes to one hour for adequate treatment in addition to parent education. Each session, Allison will discuss progress toward goals, and provide home activity plans to be carried out between treatment sessions.
